Den Beginn macht die Rolle der Rosina

Bis Ender der Spielzeit 2022/23

wird Frau Saalmann noch ihren 

vertraglihen Pflichten als Sopran in den Rollen

der Pamina und Musetta nachkommen,

ab 2023/24 wird sie sich dann auschließlich

auf rollen des Hohen Mezzosopran-Fachs konzentrieren.

von Joachim Raff's "Dame Kobold" am Theater Regensburg,

die noch in Premiere gehen konnte, 

wegen Corona aber nach

wenigen Vorstellungen abgesagt werden mußte.

Dafür erscheint bald ein Stream der selten gespielten Oper,

in der Sara-Maria Saalmann als 

Beatrice, mit Zarzuela und als Tänzerin zu erleben ist.

Sara-Maria Saalmann after 2 days shooting for the DVD & Stream

of Joachim Raff's "La Dama Duende" at Theater Regensburg,

which could have been performed only several times,

after the 2nd lockdown.

Sara-Maria Saalmann overtook the part of Beatrice, sang Zarzuela Songs, danced 

and composed the choreography for the whole ensemble.

Brigitte Fassbaender in einem Interview 

über die Arbeit mit Abständen:

"Da kam auch einer mit dem Metermaß und hat von Nase zu Nase oft nachgemessen,

wenn es so aussah, als ob der Abstand nicht eingehalten worden wäre.

Eine Liebeskomödie mit 2m Abstand ist ein bißchen schwierig, öfters!

Nein, es muss eben sein.

Entweder, wir wollen arbeiten, wir wollen spielen,

dann müssen wir uns anpassen.

Und ich habe wieder einmal gemerkt,

dass nirgendwo Disziplin so groß geschrieben wird wie im Theater!"

Brigitte Fassbaender about working with distances:

"Sometimes, somebody controlled the 2m distance,

when it looked too short.

To stage a love-comedy with distances was quite difficult sometimes, well, often ;)

But when we want to work, when we want to perform, 

we need to adjust.

And I realized again,

that there is no other place on earth, where discipline is not only a word,

was such an overwhelming success, that the public called for more concerts.

“…Sara-Maria Saalmann stars in Johannes Pölzgutter’s impressive staging 

In the role of MORASTO was accomplished and noted baroque soprano Sara-Maria Saalmann, who recently performed the lead role of Dafne in Cavalli’s “Gli amore d’Apollo e di Dafne” at Innsbruck’s prestigious Early Music Festival.

When she first appeared on stage it took time to realize that she was not a male actor, so convincing was she in a male role. It would give the wrong impression to call it a trouser role, for that conjures up the idea of a woman playing a man, and in which there is little attempt to hide the fact. This was not the case here. Saalmann walked, stood, and behaved and looked like a man.

If Saalmann’s acting was convincing, her singing was no less so.

She possesses an excellent voice, which is nicely suited to the baroque.

It has beautiful timbre and is agile and secure with a pleasing even tone and a rich colorful pallet.

Alone among the soloists, she improvised her own ornamentations which were intelligently crafted and sung with delicacy, elegance, and nuance, but not at the expense of passion and intensity.

Recitatives were subtly delivered, with careful attention given to the meaning of the text.

Her virtuoso aria, <Destino avaro>  in which MORASTO gives voice to his anger, was the high point of her performance. 

Saalmann’s reading was forceful and passionate, which she topped with an impressive coloratura display.

It was an energetic and expressive performance, one that stood apart from the others singers...”
